| This remix is less successful than the awesome-sounding version of Blow My Fuse from a couple years previously. It's hard to put my finger on why. Instrumentally, this sounds great, very punchy and loud and less awash in 1985 reverb. It must be the vocals; they're now very upfront in the mix and pretty dry-sounding, which exposes a bit of a shouty quality in place of really strbbg melodies, like on the verses of "Red Hot (Black 'n Blue)." This version of "Cold Shower" is particularly disappointing, as it seems to be a hair slower than the original, and there are some cheesy keyboards now much more audible in the breakdown section. Also, "Cry Baby" is just not a very good song, and having heard the various demo collections and live bootlegs floating around, it's hard to believe "Cry Baby" was the best they could do. Some more trivia for you, per "Steve And Rik's Pot-Cast": "Cry Baby" was originally called "Ball Baby," but Atlantic didn't like it, so it had to be rewritten. (Of course, t | |

| ... they would go on to have a completely different song called "Ball Baby" on Show Business.) If you're wondering if anything was re-recorded for this new version, yes: Jimmy Chalfant didn't play on "Lie Like A Rug" and "Sex" on the original because he had to have shoulder surgery, so Anton Fig was brought into play those songs. Also, he later did with Warrant, Beau Hill got Mike Slamer play the solo on "Scarlet Fever." Both Jimmy and Ronnie were # to play their own parts this time around. But it makes me wonder what else was messed with. For example, on the original version of "Red Hot," Steve sings "one hundred degrees"; here, he sings "two hundred degrees." Another bit of trivia: the band (or at least Steve) were not happy with the label's choice of "Cold Shower" as the first single, as they felt it was not very indicative of the album as a whole. And when it didn't take off, Atlantic didn't want to do another single. So the band self-funded a video the title track, shot at a gig a | |

| Correction: he does sing "two hundred degrees" on the original as well. | |
